JAC wins new EPMA contract across two Trusts
JAC, one of the world’s leading specialist vendors of medicines management software, has won the contract for the implementation of one EPMA system across two separate sites. This sizeable project is the equivalent of two full sized EPMA installations, but they have been purchased together for better cost effectiveness of regional services.
August 2016 – The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals (RBCH) and Poole Hospital (PH) NHS Foundation Trusts have chosen to build on their shared medicines management platform, on which both trusts currently access pharmacy management services, by adding EPMA services accessible to users of both sites. This contract was agreed through the government-backed Southern Program for IT and is supported by NHS Digital (formally the HSCIC), as well as the Treasury and Department of Health.
Peter Gill, the Director of Informatics for RBCH and PH trusts, said: “I am delighted to be working in partnership with this successful market leader in electronic prescribing and medicines administration. This solution complements the developing electronic patient record at the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals and Poole Hospital, and will make a step change in the governance and safety of our medicines management.”
The two trusts currently use the JAC pharmacy system, with RBCH utilising the outsourced outpatient dispensing system. The pharmacy departments already collaborate closely and the next logical step is to extend this cooperation to EPMA services to maximise these gains.
“JAC is excited to be awarded this contract which will not only improve care quality and patient outcomes but be instrumental in helping both trusts deliver on their local strategies, the Department of Health’s Five Year Forward View and the 2020 Health and Personalised Care plans,” said Robert Tysall-Blay, Chief Executive of JAC.
